The Liberal Democrat message in 140 characters…?

Conservative Home requested via Twitter suggestions for spelling out the Conserative message in 140 characters….this just got me wondering if there were any suggestions for a Liberal Democrat message in 140 characters?

  1. Alex Wilcock says :

    How’s this?

Freedom, fairness, future: freedom from poverty, ignorance and conformity; fairness and financial sense; green action to protect the future.

Happier doing it in 140 words, of course 😉

    Peter,

Also a good one I think….interesting that no mention of green values though….maybe this is a question for others? Include greeness or not?

From experience on three General Elections’-worth of manifestos, I can tell you that one of the tricky things about summing up our principles is that there isn’t a single word that sums up our environmental and ecological beliefs of the same order as “freedom” or “liberty” – there’s nothing like “Green-ery” that conveys the meaning we want it to.

    Here’s another thought:

“Lib Dem Principles: freedom, fairness, looking out for the future. Best way to do it? Give you the power in your own life and community.”

And what would yours be, Darrell?

I’ve come up with a few other thoughts on my own blog, too, including Mr Gladstone’s Tweet…

On mine Darrell I just paraphrased the preamble to the constitution. May be that needs to be amended to reflect the changed emphasis towards protecting our environmental future.

The Preamble does actually have quite a bit on the environment – it’s just in the next paragraph down, and more wordy and worthy than quotable!

And another new one I’ve just thought of, this time a bit less positive:

Can’t afford Labour? We won’t boss you about. We won’t knacker the environment. & we won’t waste your money on nukes, invasions or ID cards.
